Listen folks, if a coach is only as good as his staff, then Michigan coach Brady Hoke is shining. When it comes to recruiting, Michigan's coaching staff is second to none, literally. Depth issues have been a concern for the team the last couple years and even the OL and DL are still not there yet. I believe that the OL, DL and LB's have received the most ridicule from fans as far as depth issues. I am convinced with what I have witnessed, as far as recruiting, that when the 2013 season kicks off, depth will only be a memory. Let me give a rundown to let you know where I am coming from.
Offensive Line starters for 2012
LT- Lewan
LG- Mealer
C - Barnum
RG- Omameh
RT- Schofield
Decent starting five but where is the depth?
Jack Miller
Glasgow
enter 2012 class
Kalis
Magnuson
Braden
Bars
O'neill
enter 2013 class
Kugler
Bosch
Dawson
Fox
Logan Tulley Tillman
When 2013 kicks off, Michigan is 2 deep at every OL position.
Lewan and Schofield return and Jack Miller should be at C with some experience. I believe Magnuson is the future LT and Kalis at RG. I also look for Bars, Braden and O'neill to become productive backups.
2013
Dawson is the only guy who looks to become a true tackle (right tackle). LTT is penciled as a tackle but seems too sloppy for the edge in my opinion.
Fox, Kugler and Bosch are All-Americans who are capable of backup roles immediately. So when 2013 kicks off, the questionable OL looks like this.
Lewan College All-American (if returns)
Miller
Schofield
Kalis HS All-American
Magnuson HS All-American
Braden
Bars
O'neill
Bosch HS All-American
Kugler HS All-American
Fox HS All-American
Dawson HS All - American
LTT
No issues there folks.
DL
